baby, baby, baby ohhh.

This last weekend my friend, Stephanie, and I threw our friend Jaimey a baby shower. I seriously love throwing parties. If only I could do this every day, all day and get paid for it. It would be heaven . . . but I'd miss my baby(e) if I was partying all day, every day so I guess that wouldn't work in my perfect Martha world.
the invitation I designed.
We decided to do Saturday morning brunch because my food ideas were all breakfast-y. We served breakfast pizza, an egg and potato bake, bacon, sliced apples and pears with pumpkin dip, oatmeal blueberry buttermilk muffins, mini cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting and sparkling limeade. The food was even better than I had hoped! Thankfully I had two friends that made everything but the muffins and the cinnamon rolls. What a relief!

For the decorations I made this mobile using two embroidery hoops (that I painted), twine, and colorful cardstock. Super simple and I like the way it turned out.

I feel very strongly about using real linens, cultery, glassware and plates. It just feels more elegant and special to me. Luckily, because of my hoarding problem, I had everything already in my closets and cupboards except for a couple of Stephanie's serving pieces (don't you love her rack for the cinnamon rolls?).

I made each guest a CD with some favorite children's songs (my most recent fav is this one). I searched high and low for a CD case that I could do something with. Finally, I pulled out my favorite Amy Butler paper and cut a little square envelope and taped a small pocket inside for the CD to go into. It was very simple and I liked it so much better than if I had purchased something.

Jaimey received some darling things, including the most beautiful blankie from her twin sister. Seriously beautiful.

  8. Elizabeth, your pictures turned out beautifully--as beautiful as the party was in real life. I cannot tell you enough how absolutely lovely and delicious everything was. Thank you SO much! I definitely agree with the others': You are a party planning master! I love how you used the circle theme throughout, and the colors and flowers, favors and food were all divine. Perfect, perfect, perfect. :)

I love it when you comment on my blog - but please remember "if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all".
