the conquering hero

so, marcus came home. it was so much fun to see how much he's grown (2 inches?) in the last two years. marcus left for germany less than a month before our wedding. it was very sad. he had a tender moment with my mom (until someone teased that she was whispering "puff the magic dragon" in his ear - kinda ruined the moment).

jonah was thrilled.
paul didn't care so much.
I made this banner for the house. my sisters brought over balloons and cards. then, we had lots of yummy mexican food.

I made shredded pork, roasted tomatillo salsa and cheese enchiladas (I'll put some of the recipes on my food blog here in the next week or so). other sisters brought rice, beans, guacamole, green chili chicken enchiladas, 7-layer dip, chips, salsa . . . we had LOTS of leftovers but it was delicious.
then last night, marcus and I talked about his plans and watched an episode of planet earth. it's so good to have him home.

  1. Yay for brothers being home! And is it ALL Arizona boys that request Mexican food for their first meal home? Me and Kev's first stop after the airport was Filiberto's, I'm not sure he had even changed out of his suit yet! Anyhoo, hooray for family and being together at long last!

  6. I just want you to know that you are such an amazing person. I was sad to hear that moment was ruined for you mother and brother but I am so grateful they could hold eachother and express their love to eachother face to face. I am sure all of your family could use a good boost like that. I am also sure your mom is so appreciative that you are there to help get things ready when she wasn't able to. I pray for you and all your family daily, including Christian of coarse!

  11. I am so glad you posted that! Marcus has always been such a great guy. I am glad he is home after what I am sure was a great mission. Your mom must be so proud of her many missionary children.
